about
The Helsinki-based indie band Lala Salama is set to release their new single "Aurinko sulattaa mun pään" (The Sun Melts My Head) on International Women's Day, Friday, March 8th. The song is a highly anticipated follow-up to their single "Summer Love," which became last yearäs shoegaze in Finland. Hailed as "ultra-catchy" by the British magazine Clash, the single topped the Hype Machine's Popular Chart and was the fourth most played song of last year on Radio Helsinki, the biggest indie music station in Finland.
Imbued with a strong commitment to feminism and a DIY ethos, Lala Salama seamlessly picks up from where their previous single left off. Their latest offering, "Aurinko sulattaa mun pään," stands out as an enthralling indie rock anthem, ingeniously weaving together Finnish melancholy with the airy textures of dreampop, the fervor of guitar-driven shoegaze, and the spirited punch of punk.
The song envelops listeners in an honest and emotional story of everyday moments, the contradiction between forgetting and remembering, while offering a chance for momentary lightness inspired by a sunny day. It is designed to be played on road trips, late night parties, on beaches, and summer adventures.
Currently working on their debut album, the Helsinki-band has also performed in Sweden, including appearances at the Release Festival and with Swedish Finnish superstar Markus Krunegård at Södra Teatern in Stockholm. Lala Salama's lead singer and guitarist, Rosa Jules, also plays in Krunegård’s band.
Lala Salama consists of lead singer and guitarist Rosa Jules, drummer Aliisa Keränen and bassist Santeri Hytönen, Keränen and Hytönen are also known from Bad Sauna. The band, which has made a name for itself in Helsinki's punk and indie circles, released an EP and a single independently before signing with All That Plazz.
lyrics
Nään sut kadulla
Näytät hyvältä
Tahdoin huutaa perään
en muista sun nimeä
Mun täytyis kysyä
Mutta hävettää
Koska jo tunnetaan
mun muisti harmittaa
Mä tiedän mikä on
Botswanan pääkaupunki
Ja osaan derivoida
Mut en muista mitään
Oikeesti tärkeetä
Jos kysyt mun numeroo
En tiedä mikä se on
Tai miten pääsen kotiin
Vaikka just sieltä tuun
Woo-oo oo
Aurinko sulattaa mun pään
Woo-oo oo
Taas kaikki unohtuu tänään
Tukka takussa
Lompakko hukassa
Lähdin taas jatkoilta
Ilman puhelinta
Kahvi maidolla
Voisitko tarjota?
Ehkä sit ajatukset
Saisin kasattua
Mä tiedän et mun
pää on kuin suurkaupunki
Ja koitan meditoida
Mutta en muista mitään
Oikeesti tärkeetä
Jos kysyt mun numeroo
En tiedä mikä se on
Tai mikä päivä tänään on
Kun alko kiinni on
Woo-oo
Aurinko sulattaa mun pään
Woo-oo
Taas kaikki unohtuu tänään
